Green Building Companies

Welcome to GreenBuildingCompanies.com, where you can find services and resources on the going green movement. From small homes to skyscrapers, green building is gaining momentum.

Going Green

The industrial revolution complete changed the way we lived on both a personal and societal level. It is indisputable that great strides have been made in the quality of life of the average person. Of course, we are beginning to realize the advancements have come with a cost as so often happens.

Going green is a societal movement resulting from the recognition we are taking a toll on our planet. What toll? The most obvious factor most people know about is the melting ice caps. While important, they are not nearly as significant and worrying as the slowing ocean conveyor, the world wide underwater tide that disperse warm water throughout the ocean. It has slowed by an estimated 60 percent and may come to a stop in the near future. Ironically, this will result in massive climate change exemplified by much of Europe freezing as the warm waters off its coast disappear.

People and society are waking up to the problem. Global warming has become an accepted fact. In response to the problem, many steps are being taken and green building is one of them. Green building is simply an effort to minimize the environmental impact of creating structures, no matter how small or big. Green building companies do anything from recycling of steal to structure design work using materials that have minimal environmental impact. This site is dedicated to providing you with information on going green and the green building companies that you can use to achieve your goals. Here are the latest articles we've added to the site:

The Basics Of Concrete
As a whole, concrete framing provides structural integrity, termite protection, and thermal insulation, and it helps reduce air infiltration in buildings. It also readily absorbs heat, making it ideal as thermal mass in passive solar building design.
Toplighting Strategies
Large single level floor areas and the top floors of multi-story buildings can benefit from toplighting. The general types of toplighting include skylights, clerestories, monitors, and sawtooth roofs.
Thermal Storage
Thermal mass in a passive solar building is intended to meet two needs. It should be designed to quickly absorb solar heat for use over the diurnal cycle and to avoid overheating.
Passive Solar Cooling
Design buildings for cooling load avoidance. Minimization of cooling loads should be carefully addressed for both solar building and conventional energy-efficient building design.
Fenestration: Windows, Doors, and Skylights
Your whole-building design approach will determine what type of fenestration products—windows, doors, and skylights—you should use.
