Natural Housebuilders constructs hand-crafted, high-performance buildings using insulated concrete forms and structural insulated panels. Our homes are performance tested using blower doors and infared cameras. We build to the European Passivehaus standard to save energy. Our homes use a heat recovery ventilator for fresh air and moisture control. Typically, our homes use a small electric boiler for radiant floor heat. Our homes consume a fraction of the energy that an average home uses. A 2,500 sq. ft. home built by Natural Housebuilders needs only 25,000 BTU's for heat per hour compared with 70,000 BTU's needed by an average home at 10 below zero. We use low VOC paints and products for good health for all who are involved. Energy and resource efficiency begin with good design.

Northwest Energy Star Homes
Northwest Energy Star Homes is a program offered in multiple states that certifies new homes as energy efficient. Said homes are certified if they have 30 percent more efficiency than normal homes and meet certain specific regulations and requirmenets. One ENERGY STAR home can keep 2,070 pounds of greenhouse gasses out of the air each year. That's equivalent to not driving 2,244 miles or planting 200 trees. Performance-tested ductwork keeps the air inside ENERGY STAR homes clean and improved ventilation delivers fresh air.
