The EcoBuilders
The EcoBuilders is an Asheville, North Carolina green builder. Our company emphasizes new infill residential construction. We are committed to customer service, quality construction, and the environment. We build affordable, aesthetically pleasing, efficient homes for our clients with honesty, integrity, and punctuality.
The prefix eco originates from the Greek word oikos (house). Ecology and economy are both central to the functionality of The EcoBuilders, Inc. Our core principles embrace all aspects of sustainability including energy efficiency, recycled products, indoor air quality, durability, aesthetics, and affordability.
EcoBuilder homes are typically in the $200-$300 per square foot range and fit within the traditional construction market. This means that we do not build straw bale or recycled tire homes. Instead, our houses are high performance homes. We use traditional (dimensional) lumber and our assembly techniques are uniquely suited for energy-efficiency. At every point of construction The EcoBuilders are concerned with energy and resource efficiency and the durability of the home.

South East Ecological Design - SEED
Seed approaches each project by observing the unique charateristics of each site as it interacts with the elements. Then, combining thoughtful observation with ecological principles, we create home and land use designs that perform in a multitude of beneficial ways. Throughout your project this integrated design acts as a compass, insuring the least impact to the site, plus an efficient, economical completion. Going further, we select building and landscape materials that are manufactured and transported in a manner to further lessen that impact. We see these steps not only as the best way to build healthy efficient green homes and the most beautiful productive landscapes, but more as imperative actions that we all must take to protect the planet and the future of our children. We are proud of this committment, as well as the high quality and craftmanship of our work. SEED is committed to our goal of building beautiful structures of heirloom quality. Innova Homes was established to build cost-effective, energy efficient homes in Western North Carolina. We develop all types of properties with a green build philosophy in the form of high performance homes that last longer and cost less to maintain. We are enrolled in the HealthyBuilt Home builder program and use energy star approved devices.

Innovative Design, Inc.
The contributions of Innovative Design to sustainable development are many, but none is more significant than the firm's leadership role in the field of energyefficient, environmentally-sensitive design. From 1977 through 2006, Innovative Design has designed 750 buildings incorporating renewable energy solutions. Our solar home designs have been constructed over 4400 times and have saved over 1 trillion Btu's. Our 15 new daylit schools and 41 renovated schools have saved our clients 1.7 trillion Btu's, an amount equal to $43 million. These schools are now saving in excess of $3.5 million annually.
Over the past two decades, the solar and energy-efficiency features incorporated into our 4700 buildings have saved over 3.5 trillion Btu's, an amount equal to $90 million. We have eliminated 700,000 tons of carbon dioxide and, if converted to oil, have reduced imports by the equivalent of 26.11 million gallons.
These buildings have routinely incorporated passive heating and cooling; active solar water heating and space heating; daylighting; and numerous additional energy-efficient and environmentally sound, green building techniques.

“Green Building” is a term we are all becoming very familiar with. New studies tell us that the majority of all building professionals are now including green building principles in their projects. And just in time, our design and building industry is paying careful attention to our professional contribution to global warming. Unfortunately, we contribute more green house gases to the atmosphere than cars do!
My interior design career actually started in 1972 with traditional commercial design work on large corporate projects, medical clinics and banks, with a number of residential jobs as well. And although I am still involved with many wonderful mainstream design and build projects, each year brings more clients wanting to create their living and working spaces utilizing healthy and more ecologically-friendly systems, products and materials.
